MESSAGE FROM YOUR EDITOR

Summer is almost here but that doesn’t mean our ski club goes dormant for the summer. We’ve got plenty of fun activities planned including a camping and paddle sports weekend in August. It’s not too early to sign up. Cost is only $32 per person for the weekend. So what are you waiting for? Don’t forget about the annual CLUB PICNIC on Tuesday, August 7 at Albion Woods. Just as in the previous two years you will have your choice of steak or chicken prepared by your club grill masters. On-line signup will be available soon. Don’t forget there is no club meeting in July.

FROM YOUR ALPINE VP

Planning for 2019
As usual, we are looking for volunteers to run our day trips. I am already thinking about skiing, isn’t everyone? Several of us attended the annual ski travel show and ideas on where we want to go in 2020 are already being considered. What’s on your bucket list? We really want to make the Lewis Ski Club the best in town, we were first with on line sign up. Some may not be a fan of the system, but it works, you know you are on the bus, no more wondering if the check arrived. We may shift things around a bit in 2019, concentrating on getting our day trips in earlier when the snow is usually more dependable rather than ride out into March and have to cancel. I am also researching some other bus lines to see if we can save significant monies while continuing to provide convenient pick up locations.

We will not be running an organized trip to Mt Snow for the 2019 Ski Club Event at Grand Summit but members will be able to attend and get the deal offered if interested in going. Again, not a club run trip.

I am sure you’ve seen there is a waiting list for Snowmass, our Tom has a great following. Park City is about a third full and waiting for your commitment. We are looking into smaller short trips to eastern locations that are on the pass programs if there is significant interest. Do you have an idea for a short trip? Let me know. Email is best.

MAY ACTIVITIES

Badminton Rocks!

Our first match of the season was last night and what a beautiful evening it was. We played three games and all games were neck in neck, especially the last one. We had a fun time with conversation, lots of laughs, a few trick shots, and lots of trash talking. A big shout out to the dynamic duo, Janet and Matt D. who were the most improved players this year! Come on out next month and join in the fun.
